Fair Trade Bolivian Alpaca Wool Wine Knit Scarf

In ancient Andean societies, the fiber of alpacas was so valued that it was reserved for use only by the nobility. Today, alpaca fiber is recognized around the world for its luxurious qualities including its very soft texture.

This particular scarf comes from a line of products called 'Spirit of the Andes.' They are made by group of women living in the high regions of Bolivia. These women, along with their many children, have moved to urban areas hoping to find a better life for themselves and their families.

Each scarf is knit by hand and comes with a card attached that is signed by the individual who made the item.
